We are seeking a highly experienced and specialized Legal Advisory Specialist to enhance our Wealth Planning proposition for our UHNW (Ultra High-Net-Worth)/ HNW (High-Net-Worth) clients in Taiwan. This critical role involves providing expert legal counsel and guidance on complex wealth planning matters, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations, and mitigating legal risks for both the bank and its high-net-worth clients. The specialist will work closely with relationship managers, tax advisors, and other investment and insurance product specialists to develop and implement sophisticated, legally sound wealth strategies that meet the unique needs of our UHNW/HNW clients, ultimately aiming to preserve and grow their wealth across generations.
Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Legal Counsel and Strategic Advisory for Wealth Planning • Provide comprehensive legal advice and support on a broad range of wealth planning topics, including estate planning, trusts, inheritance, prenuptial agreements, and asset protection strategies, tailored for UHNW/HNW clients. • Advise relationship managers and clients on the legal implications of various financial products and services, ensuring compliance with Taiwanese laws and relevant regulations. • Conduct thorough legal due diligence on complex client situations and proposed wealth structures to identify and mitigate potential legal risks. • Stay abreast of changes in legal and regulatory frameworks impacting onshore wealth management and proactively advise on necessary adjustments to existing strategies and portfolio management. 2. Client Engagement and Solutions Development • Collaborate with relationship managers and tax advisors to deliver integrated wealth planning solutions, participating in client meetings to present legal insights and articulate complex legal concepts clearly and concisely for UHNW/HNW clients. • Work with external legal counsel when necessary, coordinating their involvement and ensuring cost-effective and efficient delivery of specialized legal services. • Assist in developing and delivering educational content and training for internal teams on legal aspects of wealth planning. 3. Risk Management and Compliance • Ensure all wealth planning advice and solutions adhere to the bank's internal policies, legal standards, and regulatory requirements in Taiwan. • Identify and assess potential legal and reputational risks associated with wealth planning activities and propose effective mitigation strategies. • Contribute to the development and enhancement of internal processes and controls to maintain a robust legal and compliance framework for wealth management
Requirements:• Bachelor's degree in Law from a reputable university. A Master's degree in Law or an equivalent advanced legal qualification is preferred.• Admission to the bar in Taiwan is required.• Minimum of 7-10 years of post-qualification experience in legal practice, with a significant focus on wealth management, private client services, estate planning, or trust law, preferably within a financial institution or a top-tier law firm serving UHNW/HNW clients.• Demonstrated experience in advising on complex legal issues relevant to wealth management is a strong advantage.• In-depth knowledge of Taiwanese civil law, trust law, inheritance law, and relevant financial regulations affecting wealth planning.• Excellent analytical skills to interpret complex legal information and provide practical, solution-oriented advice. • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain intricate legal concepts clearly to non-legal professionals and clients. • Strong communication skills with a
